LOVR Souls: Darby
Over the coming months, the LOVR team will be stepping into the spotlight – Introducing themselves and providing some insights into their professional and personal lives. This week, we’re speaking to our Lead Creative Writer, Darby.
Hello! I’m Darby. I’m a writer and editor.
I’ve enjoyed a colourful career path – quite literally! For the better part of a decade, I worked as a hair colourist in an elite salon before finally pursuing my passion for writing and literature.
In 2023, I received my Bachelor of Arts (Writing) from the University of Queensland as the valedictorian of my graduating class. I’m also an alumnus of the State Library of Queensland’s prestigious black&write! Writing and Editing Project, where I was rigorously trained in the art of literary editing.
Now, I freelance from the road while travelling the world!
One thing I really love about working with LOVR is using my writing to breathe life into the voice of a brand.
A brand’s voice needs to convey its ethos – its essence – in order to truly resonate with people. I love nothing more than learning about brands and everything they embody before designing a voice with the perfect personality, tone, and nuance.
In my opinion, LOVR’s attention to detail is what sets it apart from the rest. From the aesthetic of a photoshoot all the way down to the typeface on a website, every element is very carefully considered – backed by rigorous market research. I also love its holistic approach to brand development – the way that LOVR is there from ideation to realisation.
